Someone who was in the market for buying a used vehicle asked me, can a car dealer in Texas raise the price of a car because of sub-prime bank fees? The answer is no. Once you purchase a car and the terms of the contract is determined the car dealer can not raise the price of the car after the fact.

A car loan is not like a variable mortgage loan. The interest on most car loans are fixed, meaning it will not change during the course of the auto loan.

If you are delinquent on your payments and violate the terms of your contract, then in most states car dealers have the right to charge a late fee.

Sub-prime APR are determined by market variables, including interest rates set by the Federal Reserves. They do fluctuate, but they have no effect on the loan after the contract has been signed.

Sub-prime is a credit score below 550 – 619 on the Scorex Plus and 601 – 640 on the Vantage Score system

To prevent car dealers from taking advantage of you, get a copy of your credit report. Your FICO score determines whether or not you fall in the sub prime category and how much interest your will be charge on a car loan.

Another note, because credit unions charge less interest than banks for auto loans, visit your local credit union before talking to a car dealer

Looking for car lots in Jackson TN that will sell you a vehicle based on income? There are many dealership that will sell you a car based on your job situation, regardless of credit.

To quality for an income based car loan, you will have to prove that you have a steady job and that you receive a take home pay of at least $1500 a month.

In addition, you will have to demonstrate that your current budget reflects that your expenses are only 70% of your income. You will need a drivers license and ability to pay for auto insurance. If you can make at least a $500 down payment on the deal, this would influence the car lot owner to sell you the car with little hesitation

Cars are no longer a luxury item, but have become a dire necessity in the recent times. People no longer have the patience to stand in long queues waiting for cabs and buses and hence to save a lot of time and remain conveniently mobile, one of the best options is having your own car whether through a bank or bad credit car dealerships. Wherever you go, whether it is to office, errand running, dropping the children to school, for a doctor’s appointments, picnic, etc. you feel comfortable when you move about in your own car. Buying a car is difficult if you are having bad credit rating though. It is very important to understand how bad credit car dealerships operate, if you are interested in buying a car with bad credit.

Striking the best car deals with the right approach at Bad Credit Car Dealerships

When you are dealing with bad credit on one hand and desire to buy a car on the other keep certain financial variables in mind and be mindful of them in the course of your bad credit car loan transaction.

It is not necessary that the dealership salesman will be interested in selling you a car of your choice only. His main aim is to sell a car that will help in generating maximum commission for him. The main aim will be to convince you by hook or crook to buy the bad credit car offered by the company, not considering whether it interests you or not, or whether it fits into your budget or not.

Your main aim should be to line your objectives, against the objectives of dealerships or the car company, and accordingly be able to strike a good deal, even if you have bad credit. By making the right moves you can strike decent deals.

Let the salesman know that your affordability is good enough to buy the car of your choice so that he can help you accordingly. Make the salesman aware that you are aware of financing options and mean serious business in buying the car of your choice.

Sometimes it helps to display a little disinterest. In such a case it is seen that the salesman puts in more effort to convince you to buy the product, even if you have a bad credit.

When you know what your financial status is, opt for a car which fits into your budget well. It should not be a burden on you in the long run. Make sure that the interest rate is affordable and investigate all the bad credit car dealerships options out there.

This is good news for all New Jersey car owners who intend on trading-in their vehicle. In recent years the authorities in the state of New Jersey have gotten numerous complains about car dealers who failed to pay of loans on trade-in vehicles.

NJ legislators have introduce a bill forcing car dealers to pay loans on trade-in car and trucks in a timely manner or risk paying a fine. When dealership refuse to pay loans on trade in vehicles the burden of paying the loan is rested on the person who traded in the vehicle, irrespective of the fact that they no longer possess the car.

The new bill sent to the Transportation Committee will soon receive a hearing. If this bill becomes law, car dealerships will be required to pay the remaining loan on the trade-in within a period of 15 days of the transaction.

The bill will also required that the bank or the lending agency (secured parties) who issued the loan release the title within 15 days of receipt of payment from the dealer. Those who do not comply with the requirement will be fine up to $500 dollars for the first offense and up to $1,000 for any subsequent violation.

There are incidents where car dealers refuse to pay the loan on trade-ins and left car owners in financial difficulty for a trade-in they no longer possess.

GM is examining its option to repurchase its former auto lending business in an attempt to make it look more attractive in the wake of its initial public stock offering. In 2006 GM sold a large part of its stake in GMAC which left it at a disadvantage when compared to other auto manufacturers such as Hyundai and Toyota who have their own financing arm.

A re-entry into the auto loan financing business will give GM more control of auto loan rates and could use that as incentive to drive more car sales. With an average rate of 6 percent for a new car loan providing the buyer has good credit the auto lending business is indeed a profitable sector.

GMAC, which GM sold at the height of the financial crisis made $653 million in the first quarter of 2010.

GM is on its way to a solid recovery. The auto marker repaid $6.7 billion of the the government $61% ownership of the company. By going public, the company hopes to pay back the loan quickly. GM, at this point is very interested in re-purchasing GMAC, now named Ally Bank.

The problem is that Ally also has a mortgage lending business which is not doing quit well. However, GM has the option of create its own in house financing from scratch or to acquire another auto loan player. Having its own financing arm could give GM the leverage it needs to work with dealership and provide offering that drive sales.

However, with the government as a main owner of GM, it is difficult for the auto make to find funding for such a venture. If GM is able to pay of the government quickly, it will then find investors willing to entertain such a move

Hyundai is a brand that is far from what it used to be, say, 20 years ago. The car manufacturer has come a long way creating great sellers like the Genesis coupe, Genesis Sedan and Sonata. This time it has introduced the Tucson. The company’s studio based in Germany produced an eye popping design that makes Tucson a one of a kind vehicle.

Performance

It is roughly the exact size as the previous Tucson model, but much better. It replaces the six cylinder engine for a four. Interestingly, its 2 liter engine produces two more horsepower than the old six cylinder.

This is great to keep mom moving around town, but it lacks the power to keep up with its rivals. It is lacking in that extra engine inertia. . The Tucson is herald to go zero to 60 miles per hour in 8 seconds, enough to get you feeling comfortable. Amongst the Limited model that was tested, the 6 speed automatic was the transmission selected. But while it shifted brilliantly, the driver also had the opportunity to manually control via the center console.

The test crossover is rated between 21 and 28 miles per gallon of regular gasoline. Not good when compared to its rivals. On the interstate and small towns, it ran at 22 miles per gallon.

Price

The asking prices is $2,850 more for the premium package with navigation system, beautiful sunroof, which opens almost inaudibly, an audio system and a rear view camera. The seats a leather design for shorter trips, but seems to be lacking in lower back support.

The steering wheel have all the modern control, but the interior, however, nice the layout was countered by the hard black plastic that did not jibe with premium. The huge sunroof helps to make it feel more wide and spacious, however the framing limited the amount of cargo room.

The Tucson is about 56 feet, 15 to 20 feet shorter than most of its competition. The price of the Tucson starts at $18,995 with a manual transmission model. From there a base Limited model marketed for $25,845. Higher up the scale is the tested crossover for $29,590.

Some of the features of interest is the Bluetooth, trip computer, keyless entry, temperature controlled automatically, retractable cargo covering and roof rack. The Hyundai Tuscan is being offered with a 5 year, 60,000 miles warranty

Dealers in cars are able to make a lot of money on financing contracts for cars. Bad credit car loans attract a high interest rate, thus enabling dealers to earn in thousands. Very often a car is sold at invoice as per the advertisement put up by the dealer. All the time media like the radio and TV provide information on this. Car dealers are able to make enough money on the contracts for financing cars. Regular dealers submit your application for credit on your car to other lenders outside.

Rethink, before signing the contract:
By getting you to sign the contract these car dealers are able to make money on the contract. They are concerned with just making their money, and are least concerned with whom they are getting you to sign the contract with. These loan contracts are a source of generating income for the car dealers. If they find that they are not able to generate that extra money out of your contract with them, then there are chances that they will cancel the loan contract.

Car dealers often get your car loan approved by submitting the application for your car loan to the company providing loans. The car dealer becomes a middle person so that he can earn money on the contract. If the car dealer is not able to earn money on your contract then you may not be offered the same rate of interest that the loan company has offered, just because the dealer is cannot make money on the contract. As you do not have a direct contact with the loan company, you may not be informed about the exact rate of interest offered by the loan company.

For example you may be told that the loan company is offering 11%, 12%, 13% 143% or much more interest, even if the loan company has approved at a lesser rate for example at 9%. In the terms used by dealers it is called adding “points”, which is a very polished way of saying that, he is jacking up with the interest rate of the customer. Dealers often added several points to the bad credit auto loans.

Better awareness about car dealerships helps:
The customer is generally desperate to get the loan approved and hence is more than willing to sign just about any deal, without thinking too much in detail. As a result the dealer gets away with this, by having customers with bad credit. bankrate.com explains this situation of a customer as that of a rabbit who runs after the approval of the loan, as if it were the carrot held by the car dealer.

The blemishes that your credit report has, forces you to have a difficult time to get the loan approved. Dealers are aware of this, and the more you chase this approval, higher the rate of interest you may have to pay for the loan. An alert and smarter customer will not get nailed with a higher rate of interest. The dealer will gain a profit out of the dealership by getting a higher rate of interest approved from the loan company. Shelling out more dollars a month for the car payments is definitely going to cost you dearly.

Dealers are able to make more finance on newer cars and hence try and advertise new cars at invoice most of the time. Front end profit is the profit earned by the dealer, when the selling price of the car is above the actual cost. Dealers find it easier to make thousands of dollars on loan contracts and try to convince cash paying customers into going in for loans instead.

Willing to buy a car? Are you saving money to buy the dream car you want? But with the kind of costs of the cars, how much will you have to save before you can actually buy it? And in the meantime, will the model not become obsolete? You can always approach your local banker for loan if you can place collateral and if you have a good credit score. But what if the credit rating agency ranks you under 650? Your chances of getting loan from the local banker become null. Nevertheless, you can still approach the internet based money lenders who are more than willing to help you get your dream car. They have several schemes, including auto loans bad credit.

You may or may not place any collateral for availing the financing. It is totally on your discretion. The only difference is that when you don’t place collateral, you pay somewhat higher rate of interest. But that does not matter if you go for a long term loan as your monthly installment will be much less than the short term loan and in no way affect your budget.

Not only this, the online money lenders provide auto loans bad credit: a scheme where you can avail the loan even if your credit score is bad. There are different procedures for this. Some money lenders may charge extra fee for such schemes while others treat it as a normal debt. These kinds of loans also offer you a chance to improve your credit score, provided you pay the installments on time.

You may ask for 100 per cent finance or partial finance, where you yourself pay a little amount as the upfront fee for the finance. The interest is applicable only on the amount you got financed. There is no limit as such as how much amount can be financed under auto loans bad credit. It all depends on your source(s) of income. But be sure you consider all of your other expenses before you select a scheme for buying the car. Happy Driving!

As automotive sales slow, victims of lower consumer confidence, dealers say they're changing business practices to stay profitable.

Metro-area dealers are stocking up on used vehicles, bolstering their repair business and pinning hopes more than ever to sales of newly released vehicles.

January sales figures come out Friday and the picture looks dim. Analysts predict 2008 will be the worst year for new car sales in a decade with about 16.1 million sales. Last year about 16.2 million vehicles sold in the U.S., according to Automotive News.

Doug Wilson, president of Wilson Dodge Hyundai Kia, said he's stocking more used vehicles, especially those in the $6,000 to $9,000 range, where there's a strong market.

"People aren't going to drive a skateboard down Lakeland Drive. They're either going to buy a new car or continue to maintain and repair their old cars," he said. "We're emphasizing our service and parts departments and making sure our customer service is right on."

Some trade-ins the dealership would have gotten rid of instead get reconditioned to contribute to the used inventory. Repairs of used vehicles that would have been outsourced now are done in-house to save money, he said.

Analysts at Edmunds.com said sales of used, certified vehicles, which are newer-model, dealer-inspected rides, will jump in 2008. Consumers will look to spend less and seek a greater sense of security in their next used vehicle purchase.

According to Edmunds, leasing will stay at about 18 percent of total new-vehicle transactions with luxury manufacturers leasing the largest share. Some dealers are pulling back on prices paid for trade-ins but buyers will be able to cut deals in the poor economy.

"As in 2007, next year will be a buyers' market for most large vehicles and a sellers' market for the industry's most fuel-efficient vehicles," said Joe Spina, senior remarketing manager at Edmunds. "But those hybrid SUVs that cost a lot more than their nonhybrid counterpart will not sell as well."

Allen Levenson, vice president for sales and marketing at Asbury Automotive Group, which owns the Gray-Daniels dealerships, said a tough economy makes dealerships' other business lines all the more important.

"Used cars, both certified and traditional, are an important element to helping dealerships remain profitable during challenging economic environments. The same is true of service and parts and finance and insurance, both of which are very stable businesses," Levenson said.

"As a result of having four distinct lines of business, the three just mentioned plus new vehicle sales, dealerships are generally able to remain profitable through all economic cycles."

Several dealers said low consumer confidence, shrunken by hundreds of media reports about economic problems, is as much to blame for slow sales as anything.

"So far, consumer confidence has taken a bigger hit than the actual economy," Wilson said.

John Taylor, general manager at Metro Mitsubishi Hyundai, said to turn around the situation, confidence has to return on a national level. "(Buyers) have to be shaken up and told, 'It's OK,' " he said.

Taylor said neither new nor used cars moved for many dealers in January.

"I keep up with a lot of dealers and attend conferences. The Industry is in kind of a fog. Nobody actually knows what's going to happen. There are dealers out there who are really pulling their hair out," he said. "February has to be a good month, otherwise there will be casualties."

Anticipating a repeat of last January's healthy sales, Metro and others stocked up in November and December only to see a flop this month.

Taylor blames changes in tax refund distribution, financial institutions being tighter with tax-advance loans and predictionsof a coming recession.

"Some people are scared of spending so when they do get their refunds, they might not spend," he said. "We were waiting and anticipating that 60 percent of the people would be out putting that tax return money into the market, and it hasn't happened."

On the new car side, a steady stream of freshly released models will help sales.

Barksdale Cadillac general manager Ted Enstrom said the new CTS, recipient of several industry awards, is pulling up sales. Even in soft economic times, demand for luxury vehicles tends to stay strong.

Wilson said new Dodge-brand vehicles will be a welcome boost.

"The main thing you can do to improve sales is have new sheet metal. It brings in traffic," he said.
