Get $4500 Car Allowance Rebate – Cash for clunkers System in Progress
July 26th, 2009
A U.S. government program designed to get people out of their old, gas-guzzling vehicles and into a fuel-efficient vehicle is gaining a lot of attention. The government just came out with the final details of the “Car Allowance Rebate System” or “cash for clunkers” program that was developed to stimulate weak auto sales and to eliminate gas guzzling vehicles.
Customers can receive a CARS incentive up to $4,500 for their trade in value. A car owner qualifies for either a $3,500 or $4,500 voucher, depending on the vehicle and the mileage. Participants have to have owned the vehicle they are trading in for at least one year and have had it continuously insured for that year or longer. Verification must be provided.
CarDownloan advises automobile owners considering this option to research to find the best deal. Send your offer to several dealerships online and in your community or state, then select the best car for the best money. Given the situation in the economy the buyer is king, so negotiate with dealers for the highest price of trade in and the lowest price on the actual purchase.
Another thing for customers to look for is dealerships and manufacturers who already have buyer incentive programs. You can purchase a brand new Ford Focus for $8,995. Couple that with a $4,500 from trade in and you can get a brand new vehicle for less than $5,000.
Will this influence you to buy a new vehicle? Do you think it is worth the trade? Why or why not?

We will NEVER buy new again! If you have less than perfect credit you pay more than Double the value of the vehicle!! We went to Keith Hawthorne Ford in NC and bought a focus they charged us over $25,000 for a less than $10,000 car with payments of almost $500.00. If you’re rich, don’t worry, they’ll practically give it to you. Thanks!! We will only buy used from now on. That’s what I teach my children too!!!

Leslie, you are soooo right. Have you heard of the book “The Millionaire Next Door” It talks about how rich and low profile people buy used cars (1 to 2 yrs old) instead of new ones. A new car losses 20% of its value from the time it leaves the dealership. However, i think the Cash for Clunkers program can be a win win
