Sources For Bad Credit Car Loans

The fact of the matter is that not everyone has excellent credit. No matter how responsible you happen to be, things can happen that will cause your credit rating to nosedive. Unexpected job losses, a lengthy illness or hospital stay, or a divorce can derail your good credit and make obtaining a car loan quite a task. Fortunately, there are ways to get bad credit carĀ  loans, and keep riding while you work to rebuild your damaged credit.

Because your credit is damaged, it may be hard to obtain a car loan from your local bank, especially if your savings account is depleted and your resources are low. Still, it is worth a try. Your loan officer may be aware of a special high risk loan that you would qualify for. At the very least, your banker may know of another lender in town that might be able to help you. In any event, talk to your bank first before you go looking elsewhere. You may be surprise at what they can do for you, or at the very least get a lead on someone who can help you get a car loan.

If your bank turns out to be a dead end, then turn your attention to local dealers who do their own financing. Just about every town of any size has at least one or two dealers who specialize in working with good people with bad credit. Often, the main requirements are a job that provides you with a certain level of income each week. Part of the advantage is that you can get the loan quickly, often the same day, and be driving in no time.

Since the dealer is assuming the lion’s share of the liability, they may be willing to extend the loan on not only the basis of your secure job, but also the way you are handling your current financial situation. Keep in mind the interest rates will be higher with this type of loan arrangement. But if you need transportation quickly, this type of arrangement might be your best bet.

Along with the self-financing car lots, think about looking for bad credit auto loans with other local loan agencies. Many of them advertise in the local newspaper. You can visit with them, find out which lots they tend to do business with, and determine how large a loan they are willing to extend to you. Make sure you understand the terms and conditions thoroughly before signing anything.
